Nice to know folks in the local press are taking note of some of our favorite Good Show artists, most who scored their radio debuts right here on our humble little radio production.
The folks at Quick want you to join them for an evening of celebration, featuring live performances from a swatch of musicians representing the huge expanse of talent in north Texas.
On April 24, Quick will give out 10 awards at the Palladium Ballroom. Their local-music panelists (meet them here) selected the nominees. Now you can have your say. Vote for the winners right here.
Tickets to the show are free. They will be available at Urban Taco, Counter Culture and Centre in Mockingbird Station outlets starting Friday, between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. Limit of two per person. The concert event is first-come, first-served among ticket holders, so a ticket won’t guarantee access when the house is full. All ticket-holders must be 21 or older.

On the 40th anniversary of his assassination, Dr. King’s thoughts concerning war may be even more pertinent today than they were while he was alive, thus the excerpt from his Drum Major Instinct Sermon to kick off tonight’s broadcast.
For our friends (especially those in the mainstream news media), perhaps David Halberstam’s letter to his daughter, published 20 years after his experience during the Vietnam conflict, may offer some welcomed enlightenment.
Dylan Sneed ventures across the county line to share his wit and music.

Regardless who you’re considering voting for in November, this is one hell of a speech, refreshing in contrast to the rhetoric and wisdom we’ve been forced to endure the last few years.
Quick overview and complete speech here.
An excerpt:
I am the son of a black man from Kenya and a white woman from Kansas. I was raised with the help of a white grandfather who survived a Depression to serve in Patton’s Army during World War II and a white grandmother who worked on a bomber assembly line at Fort Leavenworth while he was overseas. I’ve gone to some of the best schools in America and lived in one of the world’s poorest nations. I am married to a black American who carries within her the blood of slaves and slaveowners — an inheritance we pass on to our two precious daughters. I have brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, uncles and cousins, of every race and every hue, scattered across three continents, and for as long as I live, I will never forget that in no other country on Earth is my story even possible.
It’s a story that hasn’t made me the most conventional candidate. But it is a story that has seared into my genetic makeup the idea that this nation is more than the sum of its parts – that out of many, we are truly one.

Download the MP3 of the following broadcast, featuring the radio debut of the fine lads of RYC, right here. Oh yeah, that’s the spot!
Programming Note: Tom mistakingly mentioned the band Blue Petal as our featured artists for TGS 375. They will indeed grace our studio, but for TGS 376, March 23. Instead, Chris Johnson of Telegraph Canyon will be sharing very special pre-released musical goods from TC’s upcoming album next Sunday. Sorry for the confusion (as mildly euphoric as it can be, sleep deprivation really hammers those flagging time-management skills!)

Tom’s initial grumpiness gives way to pure glee when a steady flow of Good Show friends streams through the studio tonight. We spin a whole mess of new tunes, a few classics too, to delight and soothe the savage beasts.
Rivercrest Yacht Club’s Generic MC makes his way from the mean streets of “west sigh-eed!” Panther City to drop some grand-mastered tracks, gives out his cell number for some lucky ladies to score copies of the newly-minted cd; Matthew and The Arrogant Sea’s Gentle Dave shares a sneak peek of MATAS’ latest entry to their ever-green catalog.
Why force yourself to listen to commercial radio all the way down to SXSW this week when you can just download one of our MP3s and hit Play? Most GS MP3s should last long enough to cover your trip from north Texas to Austin! Download two shows, one for the trip to the Fest and another for the return home.
Speaking of MP3s, get the one for No. 373 here.
Enjoy. Drive Safe!

Welcome back, folks!
Our trusty old blog server finally bit the dust, big time. But now The Good Show lads are back online, publishing more evidence for the prosecution, including playlists, MP3s of recent shows, artwork, verbal and non-verbal silliness – the quality stuff you’ve grown to love and occasionally loathe from our motley crew with the help of some very talented artists over the years.
While we ramp up our efforts to keep you abreast of our latest crimes against conventional radio, we’ll make every effort to rebuild as much of the archives we can piece together from scribbled notes on bar napkins, crude drawings recovered from dumpsters and various Internet debris from past shows.
In the meantime, MP3s of broadcasts from the past year remain intact even if they do so without corresponding playlists for now. Email us if you don’t see a specific show MP3, since we periodically archive them for installment in the Smithsonian Institute or more likely on The Black Dog Tavern’s beloved jukebox.
Go here to mine the MP3 server for radio gold.
Many thanks for your patience, love and support.
